Energizing Resilience: a support group for men
Energizing Resilience: An Action Based Men's Group for Anxiety & Stress Management
Energizing Resilience is a six-week group therapy course designed for men ages 18 to 29 who feel challenged in life due to anxiety and stress. In this six-week course, group members will learn and practice tools for awareness and management of anxiety and stress specific to their situations. This includes but is not limited to general anxiety disorder, social anxiety disorder, and other anxiety and stress related concerns.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) will be the evidenced based framework to support group members organize the information presented and apply skills they gain in a practical and effective manner.
The education component will focus on understanding types of stress and anxiety conditions, learning ACT’s core elements, and engaging in mindfulness as an approach to increase self-awareness and flexibility. The group is designed to build comradery between members and provide a space to discuss and support overall self-improvement. The action elements of this course will include interactive activities to enhance learning, acting out situations with other members, and mindfulness practices to promote self-awareness, focus, and presence.
